LSA January Update: Elections, Dues & a Big February Ahead

Happy New Year! Winter is in full swing at the Leominster Sportsmen’s Association, and there’s nothing better than staying warm with good people, good food, and great shooting. As we wrap up January and head into February, we have important updates for members and a packed lineup of events for families, kids, and competitors alike.


🗳 Elections Are Here

Club elections are underway, and we encourage all active members to participate.

If you are an active member, you have already been emailed a secure link to vote. The system allows one vote per member.

If you do not feel comfortable voting online, you may vote in person at the upcoming General Member Meeting.

💳 Membership Dues Reminder

If you haven’t renewed yet, now’s the time.

Dues renewal deadline: January 31

Members who do not renew by January 31 will have general access and rifle range badge access revoked. Renewing early helps keep club operations running smoothly and ensures uninterrupted access to the facilities you enjoy.

🎣 Ice Fishing Derby – Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who participated in and volunteered for this year’s Ice Fishing Derby. From early-morning augers to hot coffee and plenty of smiles, it was a fantastic New England winter day on the ice. Events like this don’t happen without dedicated volunteers and engaged members — we appreciate you all.

📅 February Events – Mark Your Calendars

February is shaping up to be a fun, energetic month at LSA with something for everyone.

🎯 February 7 – Kids Galactic Trap Tournament (with SCTP)

The future of shooting sports is bright, and you’ll see it firsthand at this youth galactic trap tournament. Teams from across New England will compete in a formal event showcasing skill, sportsmanship, and dedication. Come cheer on these young athletes and support the next generation of the shooting sports.


🦎 February 14 – Animal Adventures (Kids Event) - Public Welcome!

Start February vacation with wide eyes and big smiles. Animal Adventures is bringing one of their premium live-animal shows to LSA, giving kids the chance to see, learn about, and interact with incredible animals in an engaging, educational setting.

💘 February 15 – Valentine’s .22 & BB-Gun Arcade Shoot

(“Ralphie Shoot”)

Tell your Valentine that “Ammo” means “I Love” in Latin and come shoot.

This cozy, arcade-style shoot is all about fun — not pressure. Perfect for couples, families, first-timers, and anyone who just wants to enjoy a relaxed winter day on the range. Expect playful targets, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs.

🌶 February 21 – 1st Annual LSA Chili Shoot - Public Welcome!

Steel Plate Speed Competition + Chili Cook-Off

Fast steel. Warm chili. Big smiles. Real cash prizes.

This brand-new headliner event combines a head-to-head steel plate speed competition with great food and a lively atmosphere — and we hope it becomes a winter tradition at LSA.

Upper Pistol Range
11:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Important Notes

You MUST register online to compete

Registration fee: $20

Upper Pistol Range will be closed during the event

We are expecting over 50 contestants, so parking will be limited and rifle range parking may be impacted

How the Competition Works

Head-to-head steel plate speed shooting

Knock down 5 steel plates as fast as possible

Best of 3 runs per matchup

Start in a loaded-down position

Maximum 8 rounds loaded, 1 reload allowed

Pistols only — no rifles or PCC

Triple-elimination bracket format

Prizes (per bracket)
🥇 $150
🥈 $75
🥉 $50
Plus bonus prizes for the fastest times of the day

Chili & Cook-Off

Entry includes a chili meal (Kitchen Kaboodle serving)

Separate chili cook-off competition

Bringing chili is not required to compete in the pistol shoot

🪪 February 21 – Basic LTC Course

Fam Fire will be hosting a Basic LTC course covering the new Massachusetts state requirements. This is a great opportunity for new applicants or anyone looking for updated training. Registration and details are available directly through Fam Fire.


🍳 Sunday Breakfast Is Back

Every Sunday | 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

There’s nothing better than starting your Sunday with hot breakfast, good coffee, and friendly faces at the club.


⚠ Friendly Range Reminders

Indoor pistol range minimum age is now 13, with adult supervision required

Please take spray paint cans home — leaving them behind creates more mess

Only shoot approved targets — shooting rocks or boulders is extremely dangerous


🏹 Youth Archery League

Thursdays at 6:00 PM

A welcoming program where kids can learn archery, build confidence, and have fun in a safe, supportive environment.
